The rules for fishing are found on the intro screen when you first load the game. Just click on play game and then help and it will show you what keys to use.

Fishing is a tough game but a fun one. You need to click "Play now" and then "Play" after an animation comes up. Push the down arrow to make your line go down. To stand a chance of beating the level you can't wait too long before putting your line down.

For the most part, I recommend immediately putting your line down again right after you catch a fish. Then use the left and right arrows to move your boat into position to catch the next fish.

The tricky part is to let go of the down button at the right time. I recommend getting the hook just a little bit in front and a little bit below the fish and then let go...as the hook rises it should hit the fish's mouth and bring her in. As soon as the fish comes up send the line down again unless the only fish left is just below you. My mistake at first was waiting until the fish was visible to start putting the line down. Often the fish is too deep and too fast for you to be able to catch him by that point. It's easier to move over a bit if you need to or let the line go down extra low and rise up as the fish approaches.
