Thanks for the unasked for advise, Bob8256,
but I am disabled, as of 2013, and can't do the work I once did.
I would love to still be employed at my last job, where (by the way) I worked for 12 years.
It sure would make paying the bills easier if I could.
It appears you are the one with too much time on their hands,
since you are able to check out other players pages to see what they do.
But I hope you have fun while you're checking others out.

Too much time on my hands? At least I work and don't suck off the government. All disabled people can do something, most prefer to sit on their ### and get their handouts.

I am not an employee of the US Social Security Administration but I have helped people who are disabled. When a person applies for disability benefits, a series of complex vocational tests are completed to see what, if any, job the applicant could do. If there is a job in their state that they could do, they are expected to do that job, whether they like it or not. Only when it is determined that there is no job the person can do are disability benefits given. Then through the succeeding years, Social Security periodically returns to each case to determine if the person is still disabled. When the person reaches age 65, disability is no longer a consideration and new rules are applied for the elderly. I have known of cases when I thought a person was clearly disabled but benefits were denied. I know of one case where I think the person could have done some work but I was not the judge and probably didn't have all the facts. Most cases are decided fairly after a very lengthy determination process. There is a Disability Determination Board that calls for all records of the applicant. If we think people who are on a disability benefit program are just taking advantage of the system, we probably don't have all the facts of the case and are just longing for a way we could take it easy and not have to work. It tells me something about the person making the accusations and it isn't pretty. There are people who are hearing voices or seeing things (hallucinations) and I don't suppose we'd like to have those folks working in a school or hospital. There are people who are very low functioning intellectually and aren't going to be able to make hamburgers we'd want to eat at the fast food place. There are people who are paralyzed and need equipment to breathe, eat, eliminate, and move. Where could they work? There are people with medical problems we can't see, such as heart abnormalities, and we might jump to the conclusion that they are sucking off the government because we haven't seen the cardiac function tests. It's so easy to complain and criticize but so much better to show compassion for those who are less fortunate. Which sort of person do we choose to be?

Thank you for clearing up some things regarding drawing SS benefits, Gloria.
I started my benefits in 2014. It was determined then that my case would be reviewed in five years (2019). Whatever the outcome then is what I'll do.
As for 'sucking off the government', Bobby Boy,
I paid into SS the entire time I worked,
which happened to be for over 40 years.
I'll let you in on another secret, there's no overtime
when one draws any type of disability check.
So one better hope they've paid off their home or
that they have quite a bit in their savings account.
If one is under 59 1/2 yrs. old there's no touching a 401K
without having penalties thrown at you.
So one can stretch whatever the amount one draws
to cover the bare necessities and hope nothing happens
to tip the scales for another month.
You can't work a 48, 56 or 60 hour week to catch up with the OT pay.
Which is what I worked for the last 15 yrs. that I was employed, Bobby.
Maybe you need to get a different set of 'friends'
if the people you know that draw do so
just so they don't have to go to a 'job'.
As I said earlier, your info page is all set to 'private'...
what are you hiding???
Though after I've thought about that...
I probably don't even want to know the answer.
