I know what you mean about relatives from out of town visiting, frikkamom.
One of my moms brothers lived in Va.. when he came to Ga.
we always went up on the mountain for a huge family get together.
There would be other relatives that came from others towns and states too.
So many people that seemed like strangers because we only saw them
once a year, if that often (sometimes they missed the get together).
But the talking, visiting and the food were all wonderful.
Everyone that came would bring a dish of something.
There were a lot of 'grand & great' grandmothers that came...
and, BOY, how they could cook Smile Smile
Then in the early 2000s my uncles started to pass away...
I don't think we've had a get together
(one I've been to, anyway) since 2005.
That's a shame, really. My generations kids won't know any of those people.
And they're relatives...even if it's distant.
A lot of family history is forgotten when you don't get together
and listen to the reminiscing of the older generations.
As for our weather, it's been cooler a couple of days, not today though.
Today was hot again. The nights are really pleasant right now.
They're cool enough to sit out on the porch swing after sundown and
sleep out from under the covers, but just right for a light weight quilt
if you have the fan on.
I hope that everyone is able to enjoy
whatever type weather they're having,
wherever they're at.

I hope you and your family made it through the storms without any damage or scares. We had a squawking weather radio for most of the night, ended up sitting in our tornado room for a while yesterday morning, and lost power for about 3 hours. Our neighbors across the street lost a huge double-trunked pine tree. Thankfully, no one in our neighborhood was hurt. On the positive side, the weather here is less humid and cooler. Are your leaves beautiful? I hope you and all our Forum friends are doing well. Blessings. Smile

Yes, frikkamom, we did have some pretty bad weather for a couple of days.
Flood and tornado warnings and watches for two days.
But we were very lucky, only had some limbs scattered throughout the yards.
Some were pretty good sized but most were just small ones.
It's cool here tonight (last night too), yesterday the temp. was pleasant.
They say we're going to have a few more warmer days again this week.
I think I've almost worn my windows out, up & down, up & down, and again.
I'll be glad when my air/heat unit is finally fixed (well...a new one put in).
They say it'll be done in a couple of weeks at the most, maybe sooner.
The leaves are falling all over our yards now.
I say "our yards" because when you turn onto 'our' road
the first house is mine, then my moms, her sisters and my cousins.
On the end of the road to turn onto ours (my backyard) is my daughter.
And between my moms and mine (over the hill) is my moms brothers
and the house that was my grandfathers (my brother owns it now).
So we have seven family houses all within walking distance...
if the hill wasn't just below my house we'd all be within sight of each other.
This weekend (18th & 19th) is The Black Bear Festival here in town.
They have all kinds of things going on, crafts, bands playing and walks.
There are other things too, I just can't remember all of them Smile Smile
My daughter, son in law and granddaughter have gone to Gatlinburg
for four days (making it a long weekend for them).
She called earlier and said it's beautiful at Cades Cove.
I guess I've rambled enough so I'll stop typing here and go further...
hope everyone is having weather that they enjoy and are safe and happy.

Fortnite is becoming increasingly popular. I think many will be interested in playing this game, but, unfortunately, it is not always possible to understand everything the first time. Here are all the answers for beginners: how to play fortnite.
