I'm not being funny but have you read the instructions properly? Some of them you apply directly to the skin, but some you have to apply to the outside of the clothing, not straight onto the skin. Maybe that's what you've done.

Hope your arm gets better soon.

You know, it might not actually be from the heat of the patches.
I have noticed that as I have aged, that my skin has become more delicate.
The adhesives on bandages will take my skin right off, and make sores
worse then the ones I am trying to heal. That could be the case with you as well.
Like you said, you just cannot leave it on for a long period of time is all.
I hope it heals well for you sweetie.
Take care,
(((HUGS)))

Sorry to hear of your skin issue, but it sure does give new meaning to that saying when I was growing up; GIVE ME SOME SKIN.

Granny, I don't think you should be calling your own self an idiot when there are so many others on GDG who are already

supporting you and trying to give you helpful advice.

Here is a helpful link I found from the University of New Hampshire:

http://www.unh.edu/health-services/ohep/self-esteem.html

I really liked what they had to say about the subject.

Granny, if you read the bottom of the article, it even lists some positive actions to take:
Quote:
How can I change my self-esteem?
Let go of negative messages we received as children Notice and stop negative self talk
Don’t call yourself, “dumb,” “fat,” “ugly,” “weak,” “a failure,” “an idiot” Notice the things you like about yourself
You can work to change the things you don’t like about yourself
There is no such thing as being perfect, so let go of that idea
Take responsibility for your actions
Think openly and critically about feedback from others
Don’t base your self-worth on messages from the media
Raising self-esteem takes time, patience and hard work.
It’s not easy, but it can be done! Develop a sense of who you are as an individual.
Surround yourself with people who care and support you for who you are

I also personally recommend a person not being so self-centered: "...poor little old me and all my aches and pains and money problems..."
There are so many other people with needs and illnesses worse than our own.

When we take time to be less selfish and care for others by helping them or giving to them, it makes our own pain and problems minimized.
It also, in turn, makes our own feelings of self-worth improve by helping others in need.

In other words, Minnie, You would have to change the way you think about things day to day, moment to moment.

This is all the advice I can give in the middle of my busy Wednesday work day. Smile
What you do with it --and if you take any of this advice-- is up to you.
It's always difficult to change, no matter what age a person may be.

El Cee

That was kind of you to take the time to give such nice advice.

LG - perhaps you can start on the list. One a week? Easiest one first?

You have already decided not to leave those heat patches. So no Ideas or views. But you should try some other thing that do not cook your arm.
